Delta Dental of New Jersey’s mission is “to promote oral health to the greatest number of people by providing accessible dental benefit programs of the highest quality, service, and value.” How do we define value? One way Delta Dental defines value is through what we call the “Delta Dental Difference.”

The Delta Dental Difference means our total focus is on providing high quality dental benefit programs; we have the largest dental network available anywhere; we bring dental industry innovation and leadership to the table, as well as an experienced account management team; and, we consistently satisfy our customers.

Delta Dental works with various constituent groups – benefits managers, brokers, dentists, and members – and we do our best to make a positive difference in our relationships with each of these groups. Delta Dental works diligently to provide worthwhile services to our customers through various dental benefits programs, responsive customer service teams, and our network of participating dentists. We know this because we ask. We want to know our customers’ opinions and how we can continue to meet their business and dental health needs.

As a matter of fact, nearly 90% of benefits managers surveyed in 2010 said Delta Dental benefits had a “positive” effect on the overall dental health of their employees. We were happy to learn that in 2010, 97% of members surveyed said they would return to their Delta Dental dentist, and an overwhelming majority of surveyed members were "satisfied" with Delta Dental. Furthermore, three out of four brokers surveyed said the value of Delta Dental’s coverage is “above average” or “excellent.” To us, this is invaluable information – certainly something to smile about.

In addition to our dental benefits programs, Delta Dental, through our Foundation, donated over $1 million in 2010 to support the dental care and education of underinsured children and adults, the homeless, the developmentally disabled, and senior citizens. It’s important to us to not only extend our reach to employer groups, but to the underserved – those who lack access to dental care.

Educating the general public about the importance of oral health is important to us, too. In 2010 we created two public service announcements that emphasized the influence parents have over their child’s dental health, and the value regular dental checkups can have on senior citizens’ health.

Value means different things to different people, and Delta Dental knows the keys to providing value to the dental benefits industry: oral health leadership, superior customer service and quality dental products, as well as reaching out to the community at large. Oral health access for everyone is a priority to us – and we believe we’re making a difference every day.
