DELTA DENTAL MOBILE APP UPDATES PUT ORAL HEALTH AND BENEFITS AT USERS’ FINGERTIPS 24/7

PARSIPPANY, N.J. — August 22, 2016 —Delta Dental has launched an updated version of its mobile app with more tools and resources to promote good oral health. This latest version of the Delta Dental app includes a new LifeSmile Score risk assessment tool, a shop-for-insurance menu, Dental Cost Estimator tool, enhanced functionality and more.

“We depend on our phones and mobile devices for just about everything, so making oral health information accessible through a user-friendly app was a natural extension,” said Dennis G. Wilson, president and CEO, Delta Dental of New Jersey. “This latest version incorporates even more tools that consumers can put to action, from comparing prices for different procedures to evaluating their oral health risks.”

The LifeSmile Score Risk Assessment tool offers consumers insights on their personal oral health risk with three simple surveys. Users fill out a few brief demographic questions and then take any or all of the three surveys. They’ll receive a summary report with their risk scores, as well as individual reports for gums, teeth and oral cancer.

The Shop for Insurance tool allows consumers to find information about individual and family dental plans in their area. Members may also view their plan and coverage details, check the status of claims, and view and share their ID card by logging into the app with the same username and password they use on their Delta Dental member company website.

The Dental Care Cost Estimator allows consumers to compare costs for nearly 60 of the most common dental procedures, from cleanings and x-rays to a crown or a root canal. The tool allows Delta Dental of New Jersey (DDNJ) subscribers to search for a procedure in a specific zip code, or even with a specific dentist in the DDNJ network, and provides the estimated cost of what may be charged. Both in- network and out-of-network estimates are displayed.

The new app also features an updated interface, allowing users to save a preferred dentist and dependents to the app, use a Touch ID for login, and save their ID card to Google Wallet/Apple Passbook. Favorite features from the earlier version remain, including a Mobile ID Card, My Coverage and My Claims section, Find a Dentist, Toothbrush Timer, and Secure Messages (in certain geographic areas). Many features are available without logging in including Dentist Search, Toothbrush Timer, LifeSmile Score Risk Assessment and Cost Estimator.

The Delta Dental app uses the latest security technology to protect personal health information. It is free and available for mobile devices that use iOS (Apple) or Android. It is available in the App Store (Apple) and Google Play (Android)—or via the links on the Delta Dental website.
