PARSIPPANY, N.J. — April 1, 2017 — State’s new ‘network adequacy’ law for healthcare insurers requires changes to Delta Dental of Connecticut provider participation agreements and Rules and Regulations If you are a participating dentist with Delta Dental of Connecticut, the following changes will occur. You will receive the changes via U.S. mail to your office.
- Practices must schedule all urgent appointments (where the patient experiences pain, swelling, bleeding or trauma) within 48 hours. All appointments for ancillary (non-urgent) services must be scheduled within 15 business days.
- Under normal circumstances, Delta Dental and participating dentists must give each other at least 60 days’ notice to terminate participation. However, the notification period may be shorter in situations where Delta Dental becomes aware of patient safety or significant credentialing, quality of care, or ethical issues.
- All participation agreements will include a hold harmless provision as required by the state of Connecticut Insurance Department. Dentists will receive an addendum to their participation agreements at each of their locations, which will include this provision as well as those mentioned above.
