29th Annual Delta Dental of New Jersey Golf Classic Raises More Than $92,000 for Special Olympics New Jersey

Event Enables Thousands Of Athletes To Compete In Year-Round Olympic Type Games

PARSIPPANY, N.J. — July 29, 2019 — Delta Dental of New Jersey, Inc. (DDNJ) proudly announces its 29th Annual Golf Classic for Special Olympics New Jersey (SONJ) reached a new fundraising milestone of more than $92,000, bringing the total raised by New Jersey’s leading dental benefits company to more than $1.32 million since the Golf Classic’s inception.

More than 100 golfers, including broadcaster Steve Adubato, New Jersey Devils’ legend Ken Daneyko, and SONJ athlete Dane Klewsaat, participated in the May 17 tournament at Essex Fells Country Club in Essex Fells to enable SONJ to achieve its mission of providing sports training and athletic competition to children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

“Hosting our annual Golf Classic for the past 29 years benefiting thousands of talented SONJ athletes is one of our greatest privileges,” said Dennis Wilson, president and CEO of Delta Dental of New Jersey. “This year, which marks our company’s 50th anniversary, was especially memorable as we fundraised more than ever before and made it possible for even more SONJ athletes to realize their dreams of competing in sports they love.”

Funds were raised by sponsors, DDNJ’s employees, golfers, and raffles. DDNJ employee volunteers were also on hand to provide any assistance needed.

“Delta Dental has been a long-time supporter of our movement and we simply could not provide the level of programming for our athletes without the tremendous support of our sponsors and events like this,” said Heather Anderson, president and CEO of Special Olympics New Jersey. “Throughout the years, our athletes have been provided many opportunities and excelled on and off the playing field, thanks to the great relationship we have with Delta Dental and all of our corporate partners.”

Sponsors who supported the Golf Classic included MWWPR (Featured Sponsor) and Summit Medical Group (Special Sponsor).
